Here is what I'm talking about. Two of the same boats. One rigged with a VF250 SHO and one with an F300. They both run virtually the same speed.

Bet it's a new 400.

VF vs. F Series motor.
That comparison is why I'm saying the new engine/engines will more likely be replacements for the existing F series engines than it is to be a revised VF/SHO series engine. All Yamaha has had to compete with in that 300-350 hp range was really Mercury. The Merc was at least as expensive as the Yamaha, and even though the Merc has better performance, the Yamaha has a better saltwater following so they never cared. Well now Suzuki has entered that hp range with an engine that will out perform the Yamaha, and is considerably less expensive. They are taking market share in that category. Guess we will find out next week, but If I were running Yamaha that would be my next new engine platform.
Im in the market for a new boat this year so if its a 250 in the SHO family I will be ordering one on the boat.

It's probably a SHO with a longer shaft.
I'm no engineer, but it looks like you could take the SHO Technology, apply it to a V6 platform with more displacement, and have a lighter and at least as powerful 300-350 as the competition. Even the if the weight on the 300 went to 600lbs, it would be lighter than the Suski, and Merc. If you used the same platform for the 350, it would be a couple hundred pounds lighter than the F350. It weighs over 800 lbs. On a quad engine set up with 350's you could save over one whole engines weight.
Wouldn't it be something if "fishermen" were this passionate about catching fish ?
Then again, it might be unhealthy for the fish population !
For crying out loud you're just going fishing, right ?
Good old merc, keeping up to date with the latest and greatest tech.. The only way yammy comes close to the vrod is if they slap a factory supercharger on a sho and make a 400 hp engine. I don't see them going to a low displacement setup when the sho beats everything out of the hole and gets better fuel econ than the vrod at wot
Guys its just the New VMax 90 SHO....Nothing to get excited about
this place has turned into a complete toilet. every thread turns into a pissing match.
