    Life vest

I have noticed a lot of the guys are going away from the inflatables. Which would be the best noninflatable

That's the one I use. I don't fish in it usually, but any time the big motor is on I'm wearing it with the kill switch attached. It's a solid vest.

Nothing wrong with the Mustang. I just think the Bass Pro XPS Platinum is a lot more comfortable. The back is more segmented so it conforms and articulates better. It also has crotch straps which the Mustang does not. These can keep the vest from being pulled off over your head in a high speed ejection by the impact of the water. Those straps also keep the vest down in the water which keeps you higher above the water.

Because there have been many reports of them failing within the last year I would assume. A couple of guys decided to test theirs since they had to replace the cylinders soon (they expire) and a few didn’t deploy when they were submerged.

    Mustang Accel 100.
Bought one from BassCat recently. Most comfortable vest I’ve had so far.
    Full size for running.
Inflatable (you trust) for trolling when needed.

High speed ejection will shuck you out of most any vest that doesn't have leg straps, in use. Inflatables are the worst, in fact the old Central Pro Am circuit specifically required a full vest when running. I think they had an injury related to an inflatable.

I am also thinking about getting a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) now as well. Will be worth every penny if it is ever activated.

Maybe put a flare gun in your ankle mounted holster as well.

The mustang 100 is still a type 3 just like everything else. Should we be looking at type 1?

Type 1 would be better for big lakes or big waves
