    175 hp speed

I have a tr-185 and I'm possibly thinking about upgrading to a 175 hp. Originally I was looking at going to a new boat, something in the 20 ft range with a 225+, but this would be a cheaper alternative for the moment. I currently have a 150 and I can get around 58 mph out of it. How fast could I possibly go with the 175? Any guys have a tr186 or tr 185 with a 175? I seen a guy on the triton speeds thread that said he was getting 65-67.

    Thanks,

I had a Tr-186 with a 175 Pro XS on it and I would run 65 most of the time. That was with a worked 25 tempest.

My buddy had a 2003 Tr186 that was dialed in right. I was on his boat and we did 68MPH with a regular 25 Tempest and Bob's 6 or 8" jackplate. No poles. We are both around 170-180 pounds. Full tourney load and empty wells.

Thanks guys! Seems like I could get atleast another 5 to 7 mph. Most guys with my boat get around 60- 61 with the 150, but I have a replacement skeg and I think that's why mine only gets around 58-59

If you have one of those repair skegs bolted on it you will lose at least 2 mph no matter what you do.
