    Neko Baits

What's everyone's favorite worm/bait to throw on the neko rig?

Senkos are pretty common, I think, but trick worms are my go-to. They work everywhere, come in all the colors you could want, hold up well, and are cheap! Roboworms work well when I want a smaller offering.

The Reins Bubbling Shaker is another really good one. They're really fragile, but have an incredible scent and the action is unmatched.

    Jackall Flick Shake Worm

One of the best there is if you ask me. I prefer the 5.8" but all sizes work. This worm originated as one of the best wacky worms on the market, but i've done better with it as a Neko bait. I like the scent and softness of the bait and it just seems to perform really well under tough conditions. It's a definite confidence bait for me.

The Reins Swamp Mover is easily the best that I have tried so far.

If they pick it up they never seem to drop it.

If you find some sparse grass I like to use it as a jigworm. When it hangs up snap it loose and the big ones will hammer it.

I've dedicated a lot of time to the Neko this fall/winter. Kut tail is nice. I like a yum dinger better than a senko. Less salt so it sits up better, senko wants to fall over and lay on the bottom. Also way cheaper. I rig it with a small sheet metal screw roughly 2 grams on one end. Whatever that is in ounces. My scale doesn't do fractional ounces below 1/8. A drop of glue and you are set. VMC Neko hook with the flouro weed guard.

Regarding senkos, don't you want a floating bait for the neko? Not an experienced neko guy so just asking.

I pour my own baits so I make em neko rig senko specifically. I dont use any salt for them. I use drywall nails for weights. They have a extremely slow fall alot of action and when on the bottom they stand straight up

I also make my own plastic baits. I make a 3" stick and other baits and use a super soft plastic with floating bubbles in them. They stand straight up. Don't use any bait that
does not float or fall slow.

Good points above. Regular senkos will work on a Neko in my experience, but work best when you keep them moving. Even though they sink, the end will still stand up when moved before settling to the bottom due to extra weight on one end. You can basically walk a wacky worm across the bottom that way.

It's not usually ideal for all the reasons suggested, and I rarely use the Yamamoto variety anyhow because I'm cheap. Along the lines of what stringwise said, the Dinger is usually what gets the nod for me on the Neko. I tend to generically call stickbaits "senkos" which maybe isn't the best practice.
