Cant get SHO RPM's to max out, Hot foot throttle ?

2017 225 SHO on a Phoenix 919, 50 hours on engine. 10" manual JP, PTP 2 5/16". Engine data cable with digital tach. VMax SHO 25 T1 prop. Could only get 5750 max rpm's in cool weather so I sent prop off to Mark Croxton for evaluation, B&B. Prop returned and I'm still low at 5850 max. How do I make sure my Hot foot throttle is maxing out?

Take cowl off, tilt motor up, turn key one and press hot foot. Look at the butterfly to open up fully.

    On a 225 the throttle won't open 100%.

you can go higher with that 25 t1 . I run a tempest 27 on 250 sho at 1 5/8 b pad at 6000 Rpms . 25t1 is over 15" dia. Tempest is only 14 5/8" dia . Go up a 1/4" at a time your real close now it won't take much more .

The T-1 SHO prop is totally different from any other prop.
I can not remember if Yamaha has a T-1 24p 3 blade but that would get your RPMs up.
So many variables change the ride speed handling and the way the motor pushes the boat.
What speeds did you have before and after the adjustments?

Get with DREWTICK and he should have plenty of info on setup for you. He has the most impressive results with his setup of ANY 919. Most likely you just need to raise the plate a bit.

lamoon78 what kind of performance are you seeing with the T-1 24p on the Caracal? I have the same boat running the T-1 25p. Max RPM I have gotten is around 5800.

I’m still learning the boat so far 71 at somewhere between 58-5900. That’s dual poles, full fuel, 36v system with Ultrex and I run heavy as well.I’m fixing to have a Bobs hydro plate put on. I’m thinking once I get the boat down I may see around 73 that’s a stock T1 as well.

Thanks! Think I'm going to send my prop off to Ronnie and have it worked. Best I've seen was last spring running solo twin poles and a 24V system was a hair under 76. Normal two man load tournament day it will run 73.
