One check mark on the bucket list.....

    HAVING A POND BUILT!!!

well the father in law is... so a win/win for me... he pays for it, and it sits in my back yard!!!

one bank runs right through the corner of my property... I will literally be able to cast to it from my deck!!!

not too bid, about 1 acre... but big enough for my boat and deep enough for a healthy habitat (about 13 feet)

Don't have too many pics of the digging process.. but its done and now waiting for winter to end so it can start filling up

They are seeding all the ground next spring... and stocking it HOPEFULLY next year... all depend on rain

more pics will be added through spring as it begins to fill

view out my back window (this was a few hours into the start of the digging)

That black Iowa soil never ceases to amaze me. Growing up there I thought all soil looked like that but having lived and traveled in many places over the past 40 years I now know how rare it is. The soil around southern VA looks like Tang. Enjoy the pond.

Very awesome - I have one about the same size I my backyard and that thing has been more fun than I would have ever thought. We’ve built artificial reefs, feeders, and just sank 6 more Christmas trees. Stocking it is even more fun. Now it’s old enough that I drop an occasional big fish in there just to keep it interesting. Enjoy!

Ponds are a lot of fun. I'd block the view of it from the road if it can be seen. It'll be a never ending knock on the door if people think there is fish in it. The ones who sneak in and then all of the sudden know the owner are even better. I could go on forever but you get the point.

How are you not putting cover in there while it’s filling? I’d be going nuts planning rock piles etc...

You gonna put riprap or something to hold the banks in place? Plans to reduce siltation from influent water?
