    2016 V20 touch pad issue

Touch pad not working. I installed a merc monitor and all new gauges but did not mess with any other wiring. The touch pad has a blue, red, white and black wire. I've reset and checked all the breakers and fuses I know of and can't get it back up. Any ideas on what else to check or ho to test the unit. Merc monitor works and all the gauges. Motor beeps normal when key is turned on.

Does the Omni-bus under the console power the switch panel? I do have power going to the Omni-bus but not sure how to check it going to the switch panel.

Check your breaker near the battery. If it is off the panel will not stay on after turning the key off.

Ya been through all that. Really no one knows much about the Omni-bus and key pad. I finally talked to Pete at Legend and he's walked me through the testing process. Great guy and very friendly. So far more then happy with the legend support team.

So has your issue been resolved or do you need to bring it in to a dealer?

I went through everything I could think of and finally called Pete at Legend and he walked me through a few testing scenarios I could try on the Omni-bus which is the main power control unit that powers up the push button pad. It's the unit located under the console. I tested it and found no power leaving the unit. Pete is sending me a new one. I'll let everyone know if it works. Fingers crossed!

Ah, thank you for the reply.

I put these "fixer" posts and replies in my storage vault sitting on my shoulders for later use if needed.

It's great to hear the outcomes for everyone interested,

    Thank you.

    Tomwurst,
Did you test the Omni-bus or how did you figure out it was the bus?

Well the new Omni-bus is installed and still no power to the touchpad. I'm seriously lost at this point. I hate to do it but it's to the dealer tomorrow. I really wish someone could tell me how to test the outgoing Omni-bus wiring. I have 12v power going into the bus but can't seem to get anything out.

Try this to rule out a possible cause. Check to see if your emergency engine kill switch is in the correct position......the "Run" position. You may have accidentally bumped the switch to the off position which in turn cuts off power not only to your engine, but to the push button control panel as well. Flip switch to "run", switch to "off", switch to "run".

Try powering up the push button panel.

I believe I tried that but I'll give it a look. I took it to the dealer finally so I hope they can fix it. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the input!

Finally took it to the dealer because I couldn't figure out what was wrong. They found the purple wire (switched power) feeding the main brain (omnibus located under dash) had been disconnected somehow. They reconnected to the purple wire and it fired up. I don't know how they discovered this was the problem but at least it's fixed. Only took a month! Soooo glad to have my boat back.

Thanks for the update. I have my suspicions how it came undone, and I'll leave it at that

I wish I knew for sure. They had no idea at the dealer they couldn't even find the purple wire where it had come undone from. I did tell them I put all new gauges in because I was sure I messed with something. They couldn't say one way or another how it happened. They finally reconnected to the spare purple wire that was located in a bundle under the console.

I went through through that stupid manual multiple times and tested every hot wire I could find. After literally hours of messing I finally called legend and they told me to test the purple switched wire! Guess what there is no freaking purple wire in the manual!!! We'll it all worked out and the purple wire was dead so we retied to a new purple wire (switched hot) and it all works. They need to add the switched purple wire to the manual.
