    Question on '03 tachometer

The tach on my 2003 201 has recently started pegging as soon as the engine is cranked. Pegged past 7000 when on and 0 when switched off. Can anyone tell me if it's shot and needs replacing? I've got a new prop and need tach readings in order to get it tuned. Thanks

    What outboard?

It could be the charging system on your outboard, a cruddy switch on the back of the tach or the tach itself. If you are having any electrical issues, that would point toward the outboard. If not, look at the switch on the back of the tach. Note what position it is in. Cycle it through all the positions several times and then go back to where you started.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

No other electrical issues that I'm aware of. I'll try cycling the switch as you suggested. Thank for the tip.

Scott, I've had to cycle my switch to get it working again. Age takes its toll. I still have to tap it first thing in the morning.

Thanks guys. Cycling the switch did the trick. Got to run my new prop this afternoon. Got some good numbers.
