Carry a set of jumper cables. you can jump the big motor off of your trolling batteries if you get stuck. Carry a tow strap with snap hooks on both ends. carry a package of various zip ties - many uses for these.
Just make certain that you jump off of the trolling motor battery that has the negative terminal going to the trolling motor.Originally Posted by Zipster

small length of wire
extra fuses
small pair of channel locks
flares-I know some states may require it but its not where I am
fire starter and tinder - I don't plan on using it but never know
Add a roll of duct tape/electrical tape and a screwdriver with interchangeable driver bits.
I carry sun screen that also repels gnats!

Great list! I always carry a small piece of piece of sandpaper to clean off corrosion on electrical connections just in case.

I pack everything in food saver bags/rolls with moisture packs.
It keeps the rust down so stuff works when you need it.
Examples:
Extra Rain Suit
Flares and flare gun with dates showing so DNR/Coast gaurd can check dates.
Tools, wrenchs, sockets, screwdrivers, etc.
Extra bulbs for nav lights.
Flashlights with extra batteries
Personal beacon
All are vacuum sealed. Also keep several knives on board to open the bags when needed. Or you can nip the side of the bag for easy opening.
