    1983 Johnson 70hp blown seal?

Ive kept my boat outside for 15yrs but this Fall it was unusually warm here and I used it into mid-November. But it got cold a couple days after and has stayed cold.

Today I noticed that some lower end oil had seeped out around the prop.

Im assuming there was water in it that froze, expanded and blew the seal?

It could be residue exhaust oil. Did you take out the top plug to see I it was over full, or the bottom plug to drain and check for water?

Pull the prop off and check for fishing line on the prop shaft.

That will do it. You'll need to pull the rear bearing carrier and replace the seals.

I only use Evinrude products. I rarely if ever use after market parts. Support your local dealer if possible.
