    150 vs 175 Pro Xs

So ive been kicking around the idea of putting a brand new motor on my Javelin 190 DC. The current motor is a 150 efi that i keep battling with electrical problems so i thought about just starting from scratch. Heres my dilemma, the boat is rated up to 175 hp, The current motor when it wasnt giving me a headache would push my little boat around 63 consistent and the fastest on GPS was 65.4. So what am i gaining by going up an extra 25 horse?

I can give you an idea based on my Bass Cat Sabre. Bought it new with a 150 EFI. Pushed my boat about what you see on yours. Repowered with a 175 Pro XS in 2011. Running right at 70 solo. Some guys are running 72-73 with the same setup. The big difference I see is running with a load. The 150 would only push my boat around 60ish with another person. The 175 is still around 67-68. I also saw a significant increase in fuel mileage with the DFI motor. I called my dealer after running the new motor a while to ask if something was wrong with it...fuel gauge wasn’t moving...

I agree with adchunts , depending on hull and adding another 100 pds. on rear. it will put the bow a little higher in the wind and possible blow the bow around more when fishing.

both are 2.5L MTRS shouldn't be but around 40lbs diff in weight, now the 200 pxs is 3.0L,have heard claims of the 175 pxs being close to the 200 2.5 efi in performance and way better on fuel
