New Motor Rigging rubbing splash Shield

I just had a 2012 Pro XS 250 put on my boat. I switched from an Etec 250HO. 12” jack plate. New mercury rigging tube. I’m probably going to have to take the splash shield off because the tube is either going to break the splash shield or the tube is going to break.

Gonn be a huge pain in the dick but your gonna have to shorten your tube. I had to do the same when I got my 300xs back from the dealer.

Is it possible to cut the tube without pulling all of the harness and hoses out? Obviously I would loosen one end and then cut up the hose and then trim around the the tube.

Rigging tube is a pain for sure. Had to mess with mine this year to replace all the fuel line. Found that its better to remove the engine side and work from there.

Mine is tucked under the splash shield. Shortening the tube is simple. Remove one of the end connectors, trim tube and screw connector back on.

I agree with Leebob. I unscrewed splash well side connector, trimmed and reinstalled. I believe I used tin snips to trim tubing. It is not difficult to cut.

I carefully cut/shortened my splash shield....taped a line and run it through a bandsaw. Took 15 mins

Well bad news. I shortened the tube by about 5” and was running the trim up and down to see if it was going to be a problem still and the crack that I previously had fixed in my splash shield split back open. It’s looking like I may unfortunately just go without. It seem like the height of the motor/tube exiting the motor would always create a problem unless I trimmed the splash shield back some. I guess I’m just going to go with one of those fancy tops to a jack plate. Anyone know where I can get one for a 12” rapid jack

Crank68, how much did you trim/cut the splash shield...1/2 inch, 1 inch or more. I imagine the more you trim the more tube clearence

I knew someone would ask.....I believe I did 1” and went back and had to do a little more but can’t remember how much. It was years ago. Didn’t take long at all. Just taped the line I wanted to cut. The rigging hose in the pics does look a little long too...

The problem I think is definitely the splash shield needs to be trimmed. Looking at this picture it wouldn't matter how much I trimmed it would always hit unless the shield was trimmed.

Yours does look like it would be very tight. Is that a 14" jack plate? Is the boat an XD? That could be the difference?
