And if the jack plate needs a hole, or holes drilled?

I only ask, because my Bob's doesn't have a hole on the left side. Can't see how I'd get a drill in there for a ½" hole either. Right angle stubby bit maybe?

Other than that, I agree with the rest.... any decent amount of mechanical skill and you should be set. Heck, I've even cut the hoses on mine (old style with compression ends) and reinstalled them without any problem.

Both poles running to (1) marinco 701 or similar rated battery cut off is the proper way.

My boat already has two power switches. One for the cranking battery and the other for the trolling batteries.

Will this work or do I need an additional power switch?

all depends what that cut off is rated for you will need 40 amp rating min for 1 pole and 80 amp for duel poles.

Looks like both switches say 40amps

I plan on hooking the pp pumps to my cranking battery so I should use something like this and have that wired between the pumps and my main cranking battery?

poles should run to a marinco 701 or similar amp rated battery disconnect. Then positive lead from the 701 to the positive of the battery , your just disrupting positive flow to the pumps when switched off.

    Thumbs Up Power poles installation

For those who have installed blades how hard was it? Any tips or videos would be helpful. Also, any issues getting both poles to drop at the same time at the same speed?

Basically my wife has somewhat approved the purchase and that's a stretch...but the install would probably cost me 250-300...I really need to save that money.

Pics or any info would be helpful.

    Thanks

I looked up what you had...you probably dont have a jack plate. ....I had to use different brackets.

    Started on the install tonight.

    - moved onboard charger
    - installed both brackets
    - dry fitted the pumps

Yes, I started cleaning my batteries the other day but it got too cold in the garage. I need to finish cleaning them.

I had to use those brackets because I have a Hydro Jacker Hydraulic jack plate. I couldn’t use the brackets that bolt on the side of the jack plate because it has to be free to move up and down

Youll be fine till your marinco comes, you can add the cut off later wont prevent you from using. For now if you wanna cut power either pull fuse or just take positive wires off. Even if you dont have cut off power pumps go into sleep/standby mode, they pull such little juice wouldnt make a difference if left powered for weeks.
