New Balance are great shoes. It's what othopedic specialists recommend. I have two pairs. And they work.

I've tried all of them: Simms, Shimano, Nike, Asics, Reef, etc.. If you want to cure the back problem, get a pair of SoftScience. The shoes are pretty ugly, but they absolutely work.

they just rolled out a new Tennis Shoe models:

Got two different types of Simms boating/fishing shoes for Christmas. Both really comfortable. Too cold to fish though.

Sun gets so hot down here in the summer flip flops, barefoot, and even black shoes won't cut it. Last 2 pairs were slip on crocs(not the rubber ones) and my current pair is some sketchers with memory foam. I do need a new pair though. If it rains I use waterproof socks with Nike sandals, and cold I wear muck boots

I know crocks are ugly but they sure are comfy. I have some Columbia drains that I love except my feet hurt after I wear them all day. I may have to try the soft science.

Cold or rain I wear Merrill hiking boots with gortex, if it’s decent weather then I use the Columbia PFG float shoes and occasionally reef flip flops. My knees are shot so no matter what I wear still have a hard time walking after a day of fishing

Ecco Yukatan sandals, or some thick soled trial-running shoes. Have a pair of LaSportiva's and Adidas that work well for me. I have flat feet so need a good sole for fishing. Sort of gave up on sandals for fishing the last few years, but if you like Chaco makes good soled sandals.

Padded deck helps a lot and I wear a good set of tennis shoes or during the summer a pair of boat shoes.
