    Rev limiter 300 xs

    Dear all

I have 2x300xs 2009 on my old 28 foot offshore racer. My rev limiters pops in at 6800 rpm, that seem high to me. I bought the engines preowned (I don't know the seller) is this normal or could my engines have some kind ECU work done.

Stock limiter is at 6400. Sounds like they have been raised by Simon or Dave Bush (DBR).

My ecu work was done by DBR and my limiter is set at 7000. I prop mine to turn right at 6000 typically.

just like I suspected then. Too bad that their is no tags or anything like that that states who has done it and what is done. The engines has standard cowlings no extra air intakes, but consumes a shitload of oil if I run them on high revs.

The harder I run mine, the more gas and oil it burns

Yep the harder you run the more gas and oil it use . At WOT i think they use 40:1 ratio that's
before the ECU work is done.

My prev 300xs had a Simon flashed ecu that went to 6700/6750. My current is stock at 6400. I prop for 5900/6100 rpm.

Are you reading those RPM's on an ANALOG instrument or a SMARTCRAFT instrument?

Is there a sticker on the ECU? Mine came back with a piece of tape on the ECU hand written L1.3 on it.

I was out to the garage today and had a closer look. No handwritten tags.

Your PCM was most likely modified in Sweden correct?

No I don’t think so. But it could be possible, the motors are sold new in the US and imported to Sweden a few years ago.

Well if you purchased BRAND NEW from the US, then the PCM will be STOCK.

He did, but the comment above made me think that the motors were possibly Brand New from the US.
