Curious if anyone has any input on how a 12" jack plate might hinder the performance at all? Pro's and Con's of 12" jack plate?

I was told by this forum to not use a 12", a 10" is best.

To run a 12" on a 919.
Mercury: maybe ok. dont know about hinder the performance, so far I dont remember seeing anyone running a 12"
Yamaha: No it already sets back further and 10" seems to be a good match

Try it and let us know.
I was going to buy a 12" earlier this year but didn't and spent the money elsewhere. If you're getting a mercury try it out.

Could always get 2" spacers and try it. If it's not not better or same, then sell em and at least get SOME money back. That way you're not stuck with it.
I heard that when the 919 was being first developed it was ran with a 12 in plate. It was to fast so they slowed it down little with a 10 in plate. I know the 920 runs faster and drives better with a 12. I have a 919 that is plenty fast with the 10 in Bobs, haven’t been out run yet.
I know I'm digging up an old thread here, but wondering if any one has put a 12" Hydraulic plate on a 919? I am going to add a hydraulic plate to my 2017 919 225 ProXS and thinking about going with a 12 instead of a 10.
