    Favorite rods and reels

What are your favorite rods for crappie fishing.

Casting I like 6 ft ultralite STCroix, Nothfork composites, and Batson rods
Vertical I like 7 ft lite StCroix's and Batsons
Dipping I like 9 to 10 ft Batson rods

I build all my rods with Tennessee handles

I use Shimano, Daiwa, and am quickly becoming a huge fan of Pfluger reels in 500 or 750 size. Some models the 1000 size are small enough for me also.

Casting/shooting 6-7' lite power, fast action. 2500 or 4000 size reels. Shimano reels. In recent years I have been using the Sienna model w/o issue. Before that Sahara. 4 lb hi-vis mostly.
Single pole 10-12' BnM BGJP. Spinning reel, cheapo baitcaster, fly reel, Solo etc. 4-6 lb line

As of right now my favorite is an ultralite falcon with an Okuma ignite reel. I also have several Okuma Celilo rods that i am partial to as well. The okuma rods are cheap (Less than $30) anywhere you can find them. They dont have the backbone, but the sensitivity is great on them. Right now I have several differnt reels on each rod. Im wanting to get a Todd Huckabee and or a bonehead rod soon though and pair them both when a pfluegar president.

    7' ML G-Rod.

There is another rod that I really like if you can find them. No.8 Tackle Blackout rods. They have no cork...just rod and reel mount. Very sensitive with braid and reasonably priced.

Lots of folks here in TX use ACC crappie Stix and Pro Angler.

I use the G Loomis 661 and a Shimano Sienna RD with 4# test line for 1/32 Oz jigs.

I use G Loomis 6400, same reel and line as listed above for 1/24 or 1/16 Oz jigs.

No floaters, no minnows just casting and tight line the jigs.

7ft light StCroix /Daiwa size 1000/1500. Great casting with 6lb floro and 1/16 oz jigs. Also make my own rods with split grips. Batson and StCroix are my favorite blanks.

My uncle bought an ultralite G loomis at a garage sale for $5 bucks. They didnt know what they had and nor did he. He knew it was worth $5 but didnt know they were any where near $200 plus new.

I like the Spinning Shakespeare micro series rods in a 7' med rod's with 25 PTI reels and a few Dawia 1000/ 1500 reels.
Which to me they feel like a lite rod .....can't beat the price i think around $20.00

I might be going against the grain, but I prefer a medium action rod. Favorite rod for vertical jigging brush is a 7' med Shimano Zodias. Light tip, but good backbone.
Another favorite is 6-6 medium Falcon original.
Both spooled with 4lb Nanobraid or Fireline Crystal
