    Another Gambler for the household

On Thursday my son is picking up a '96 Gambler 209TE with a '01 Johnson 225 H.O. ,25P Trophy & hydraulic jack plate (10" set back) that he'll fish out of in college next Fall. Y'all have any insight on what to expect speed wise with this set-up? Assume 2 men and tournament load. We'll 'lake test' prior to purchase of course, but I'm unsure if lake conditions will allow a full top end run.

    I run a '13 22C Sterling/Gambler Bass Boat with a 250 SHO. I can't have my son passing me up!!!

Thanks Guys for the insight. Upper 60's to low 70's is respectable, and I won't have to 'flash' my SHO to be faster!!! Just hope it will carry him through fishing for his university over the next 4 years with minimal maintenance cost. I hear that engine slurps fuel.

Having run OMC 200’s on Gamblers I would say a 209 should run 72-75 with a 225 HO assuming good compression and motor in good shape and prop dialed in.
