Maiden voyage on the ice a success!

It's been a long time coming ever since I purchased this back in the spring and just wanted to thank those that helped me here with the questions I had to try and get it out on the ice. I was pleasantly surprised how well the unit worked! Bye Bye mechanical Flasher.

Yeah that's a channel cat. I actually target cats through the ice up here quite a bit. Not a lot of guys do it, but I enjoy catching them. We just need about another week of cold weather and I can start catching some real fish through the ice. :)

curious though......do you try to look for those with the sonar, or just to see your bait?

The cats will suspend quite a bit and the sonar is a great tool for locating them and playing cat and mouse. Sturgeon....not so much. Sonar just gives you a heads up a fish is down there sniffing around for your bait. Totally not needed.

Unfortunately it's a non chirp unit (no Panoptix port). So I'll have to make do without it. :)

I've been playing around with some settings and such amd I'm really liking this unit on the ice, and as a bonus I don't have to listen to the whirring mechanical flasher all day. Here's shot of a Sturgeon coming in. The smaller mark above was most likely a shad or crappie. I have it set full screen zoom on only the bottom 5ft (since I'm only looking for Sturgeon crusing on the bottom).

Got into bunch of gills on pond. Found them using Panoptix. PS 21 tilted at 45 degrees. Drilled only 5 holes to find where they were hiding. Only trouble they lacked size but learned some more on the PS21.Labels kind of small bunch just trying to illustrate whats going on. The 92 SV really shines on the ice. Regardless of view. The HW 8 ice ducer is providing the 2D. The PS21 is physically setting about 3' away from my bait which is what it shows.

Awesome! What frequency do you usually run on for ice? I live in central wisconsin. Plenty of ice here too.
