I don't know how Lawrence Co. didn't rank higher. Don't they have a 'Mule Day'? They used to have an annual Chicken and Egg Festival. Matt, your county made the list higher than I expected.

I've been there twice. It's definitely Redneck but not too bad.

Charles Barkley is from Jefferson County. He is from Leeds, which is just outside of Birmingham. I grew up about 30-45 minutes from him and remember reading about him in the newspaper during High School Basketball season. Bo Jackson also grew up in Jefferson County, just outside of Bessemer.

My Mother grew up in Walker County and my Father in Winston County. Still have a lot of family in those counties. Great people but can see why they get ranked so high.

Jasper (Walker County) used to have a billboard about the city with a slogan. "Twice the lifestyle, half the price". My children would always laugh about the saying.

I escaped Cullman when I left for college in 1967. Only gone back for funerals and weddings (usually cousins marrying each other)

I know Cullman is a little backwards, but is it really worse than ATL?? I've been over here for 10 years, and I can't wait to get back to Alabama. Like people were saying on the cruise thread, to many people in not enough space.

You and me both, man! I work in Atlanta and live just down I20, but I can't wait to one day move back to East Alabama where I grew up. Full Circle.

Met some nice people there, but also met a lot of people who could not keep their nose out of other peoples business. Seemed to be a freaking hobby down there.

Did anyone else notice that this list was basically every Northern Alabama county? Maybe they're so Redneck because of their proximity to Tennessee
