Nothing like that at all, on Carnival it will be deck 10 liddo. It's a huge screen open balcony where the main pool is and usually 3-4 levels and planets of seating. They call it Oceanside theater, they and the game on that one year we were on the boat during the game and during World Cup soccer they had it as well. Deck five casino bar has about 10 TVs and they game will be on there, or it should be anyways.
About the buffets, there are restaurants (just like on land) and you don't not have to eat at a buffet at all if you don't want to. On our cruise we did not eat any meals there except for the occasional quick breakfast when we didn't get up early enough to go to a restaurant before port.

I've been on a dozen cruises. If you think that 6% of cruisers being sick is a bug number, how many kids are out in your school today?
As far as not washing their hands, just watch the bozos in the men's washroom who pee and leave. How anyone can skip washing their hands beats me. No upbringing by their Father.
Yep!
Went on one cruise in 2006 and didn't care for it. If you like going to crowded malls you'll probably like it. Getting off the boat and visiting the islands was nice but I kept looking at my watch to make sure I had enough time to get back to the boat. You're better off just flying to a place you want to be on vacation and enjoy spending time there without time constraints.
Unless, you want a lazy vacation with everything planned for you? Decisions, decisions.....
they must have left off carnival or disney. pretty easy...step up to a better cruise line like crystal. less crowded, no kids and all inclusive
Buddy just did a very expensive cruise from NY to Canada. They had a special stateroom. Big dollars. They had to stay in NY two extra days for the ship to be decontaminated from a flu outbreak. Got on the ship and the second day they both got the flu and were quarantined for the next four days. Could not leave the room during that time and no refunds or discounts. They were not happy.
I've been on tons of cruises and maybe I'm just lucky. Never been sick, and never had any issues whatsoever. It's a fun way to get to see a lot of different places for not a lot of dollars. Cruising isn't for everyone but for us, we love it. And we rarely eat at the buffet's except for a quick breakfast on port days and a lunch here and there. Sit down dinner at night and usually one night in the high end steak house and dinner with the chef one night.
Boatless Bank Trash for now
Keep in mind most of the negative posts are from those that have never been and others that hate being around other people. You'll likely have a great time. Like someone else said, don't just walk around the port thinking you'll see anything interesting. Get out and explore the place you visit and try to see things you'll never find in America.

So are we banning Cruises?
Cruises have never appealed to me after spending 2.5+ years on Naval vessels while in the Marines. I know they are different but when I go on vacations, I don't want to be around a bunch of people. I prefer to rent a house as well. Not a fan of Hotels.

I have been on 7 cruises, #8 will be booked shortly. All but one have been 8 days. The wife and I love them and have a dang good time. I always state I need a vacation to recover from my cruise. Neither of us have ever been sick, knock on wood. We spend a lot of time on the serenity deck, quiet, enjoyable and constant bar service. Spend quite a bit of time in the spa also.
I have seen places I have always wanted to visit, but a lot of those places one day was enough. NO way I would to spend a week on some of those Islands. Also have taken and enjoyed some really cool excursions. Heck, I once rented a car in Roatan and spent the entire day driving all over the island.
What we cannot obtain from intelligence, we can learn from experience.

I’ve been on 13 cruises and never had one problem. They are definitely not for overreacting, crotchety old men! Which there seems to be a whole lot of on this board. There is a ton of stuff to do, amazing entertainment, amazing food on the higher end lines, and you wake up somewhere different every day and get to go on a new adventure. If you like being entertained, eating, drinking, and adventuring, then you will have a blast.
Here's my experience in a nutshell. Cheap cruises equal cheap experiences.
I don't do the buffets. Preferring specialty dining, main dining room or cafes.
And we enjoy suites for additional space, upgraded services, etc.
I'm a Celebrity/Azamara fan - solid values and better than mainline offerings.
IMO, cruises are like anything else ... what you make of them.
