They have different temperature levels that you can choose from on their website.

The Muck also looks good, but how thick/sensitive is the sole? I don't like a hard bottom shoe when on the boat, I like to feel the floor, pedals, rods or what ever else I step on.
    Forget the Muck Boots then.

I've been military since, well a long time ago and we have folks from all over the US to train here. Some of the soldiers from the northern states check the weather and see the temps will be in the 40s and they don't bring cold weather clothes. It doesn't take them long to find out what what high humidity does to 40 degrees.

I bought a pair of Adidas Terrex Gore-Tex shoes recently. Wear them with SmartWool socks. I’ve fished several days in the 30s and 40s without any complaints about cold feet. They should work for you in your area.
How are things in Pineville these days? Used to stay there frequently when I visited the USP at Pollock.

Best thing I have found wool socks and sandals. Also keep a pair or two in the boat along with some seal skin socks for when it raining. Feet can breathe and won't sweat. Feet stay toasty. Fished with a guy that done this I had a pair of lacrosse boots on and about froze. He never had a problem so I tried it. Was ver surprised looks goofy but the fish don't mind.

I wear my hunting boots if it will be raining. Otherwise, I wear the same shoes I wear to work, tennis shoes....just with warm socks. I'm an ER nurse so I'm on my feet all day and tennis shoes work the best for me.

I wear these unless it's REAL hot or REAL cold. They should be great for a Louisiana winter. That's a Redwing brand. Merrill and others make a Gortex hiking shoe as well if you prefer those brands. Most of them also come in a hiking boot that's not as heavy as a winter boot.

Pineville hasn't changed much, just seems to get more crowded. Same ole rednecks.
