    Monroe

    IMG952017121695121252081.jpg

Couple buddies of mine are on Monroe today and doing pretty well. Just sent me this pic of their best one so far and it's a Beast!! They lost another beast and boated a few nice smallies also. Said they're the only boat on the water. BTW, they're fishing in my old boat, makes me wonder what I was doing wrong in it all those years lol.

Can remember fishing a cold water tournament there, water temp was in high 30's. Big fish was a bit over 9, and if memory served they won with 2 fish. I froze my ass off and blanked.

I use spinning rods probably 90% of the time. You can catch anything on a spinning rod (if you have the right rod) that you can catch on a casting rod. I've caught several 7lb fish on spinning rods with no issues.

Two of the biggest fish Ive caught were boated using a 7'2" spinning rod with 10lb mono........7lb largemouth and a 12lb striped bass!

I caught a 30lb flat head on a medium spinning rod. Line was maybe 14lb fireline, but I'm thinking it was 8lb mono. All I remember is it had the rod doubled over, and I couldn't move the fish at all. Took 30-40 minutes to get it in.
