How do I Even put mine in standb by??? I have a 1198 and a 898. None are always on. Well the console one I usually turn the sonar off and just have mapping on if I already know where I’m fishing.
Leave mine on. I occasionally go to stand by mode for the front unit but that's rare. I put the console unit on standby as soon as I get up to fish. Display models in stores are on quite often It. doesn't hurt anything that I'm aware of.
GETFISHED !!!

The less times you push a button, the better for your unit, unless it is touchscreen
Question: Other than the o vious battery running down faster, are there issues leaving it on? Front unit transducer is mounted to trolling motor.
On my Lowrance Hook 9 it's just too easy to place it in standby mode. Just hit the power button once and then the enter button once. When I get to where I'm going I deploy the TM and just hit the power button one. EZPZ
Hi Mike.
Put the Lowrance in standby and the Garmin I turn off sonar.
In stand-by
