Pleco
Some of the power plant lakes around here stock them to help control algae growth. I “lassoed” one on Calaveras Lake a few years back.

Who controls John Gill?
Wish I had never seen them. They are an ugly thing.I lived the 1st 30 yrs of my life in florida...never seen one, and we fished all the time.
Filet it and see if it tastes like chicken. If it does it could be a Chicken Fish.

Others above have correctly named it. There are a ton of them in Falcon. They can get established in warm, southern lakes and in power plant lakes. In lakes that get colder, they die off because they are somewhat tropical in nature.
I tore down my tank last year and ended up giving away all my fish. I tried several times to sell them back to area pet stores and aquarium supply places but the weren't interested. My Plecostomus was over 12" at about 7 years old. I wish I could have gotten that much for mine!
Plecostomus but man that's a Biggy
Risen From The Ashes!!
They are tough as nails also....I tore down my tank once when I moved...As I was netting the other fish..my pleco must have got scared and jumped out of the tank and I didn't see it....it landed behind the table I had my tank on..on a Hotrod Magazine...I found it about 30 minutes later...stiff as a board...dropped him back in the water and he swam off!!!!must have had him for another 3 or 4 years...
