Drain it, fill it, trade it
If the nozzle is super lose you know you got the wrong one.
Something I have read which makes sense is only filling up at truck stops. Go to the stations that only semis use as it will only supply diesel and is more likely to have fresh fuel. Ive read that typical gas stations which dont turn over much diesel can have contaminated fuel due to condensation. I cant say this is true just what I have read and makes sense in my head.
Drain it put new filters in it. I did the same thing to my ford. You can save the gas and use it in other cars/trucks. It just puffs a little smoke. I used 29 gallon like that
Know 2 people that have done this on powerstrokes, one drained everything replaced filters and was good to go.the other had the fuel system crap out, that route is 9,000
Guy at work filled our 6.7L Cummins tank half full of gas on top of half a tank of diesel and did 300 miles round trip on it. Drained it, drained the lines, new filters...that was 4 months ago... Being you were mostly gas it could go either way.

Co worker did it. Drove two blocks and it shut off. Very nice truck. Took him $5000 to get it right and then he traded it a week later.
A little off topic..dude I know put DEF in a 6.7 powerstroke fuel tank. Basically had to replace the fuel system. Insurance covered the bill.
My wife was in a hurry one day about 2 years ago and filled our f250 with gas. It shut down a few miles from station. Ford mech told me it had s sensor in it to shut down if it detected gas which it did. They drained the tank and lines, filled with diesel and a quart of transmission fluid. We have never had another problem with it.
If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
This one of my biggest fears. I switch back and forth between gas and diesel trucks. I’m always afraid I’m going to screw up. It can be easily done especially if you’re on the phone.
I stopped to fill up with gas at a new BP station and was about done and realized the handle was green. I started filling sick and finally built up the nerve to look at pump and it was gas unlike the other stations which diesel is a green handle.
