    Question Way point symbol change

Is there a way to change the way point symbol that's left on my map? Specifically, I'm looking for the ability to mark different structures. I'd like to have one symbol for rocks, another for weed lines etc. Is that possible with my helix G2 SI?

Waypoints are not on your map. They are overlayed on the map, they are GPS data. You get them with or without any map background.

Move your cursor onto the waypoint, press menu, and you'll be able to edit the waypoint symbol from there. Wish Humminbird had a way to pick the icon when you mark a waypoint kind of like how the newer touch Lowrances are.

You can choose the Default waypoint icon with the Helix units.

With the SOLIX, you can edit them on the screen after created by touching the icon name. You can also edit them later the same way. Waypoint Info is the menu that does that.

I edited the red one to red and the menu is for the blue one. After taking the screen shot, I use the Delete selection to get rid of them:

Can you post some of the sample icons that can be used? Or is it a colour change like on the image from the Solix I see below?

You won't get those icons with a Helix. The ONIX and SOLIX waypoints are symbols in the boxes that can be colored like the example.

The Helix icons are not boxed and the only way to see all of them is scroll through the selections individually in the unit menu or with HumminbirdPC. This screen shot has some of the Helix and number series icons, the circles on some of them are Casting Rings.

And those symbols you show were added while using the helix? I ask that because I don't see myself going back and using PC rather than directly within the unit itself

    Yes

My default icon is the red + and when I saved the bush and tree waypoints, I edited the red + to those immediately after I saved them.

You can edit any and all of your waypoints in the unit Nav tab, Waypoints, Routes, Tracks, select one and Edit. You must SAVE after each edit to keep the changes.

Some of those waypoints indicate a Snapshot was done. I delete those later since I wait until the subject is about mid screen to take the snapshot.

Great thanks for the explanation Wayne. Is this something I can play around with on simulation mode?

Since I've updated to the 1.5** software none of my settings are saving. If I'm in Sim mode or live mode my settings keep going back to the factory pre sets. I'm just set up in my living room with a power cable if that makes any difference?

They should, evidently those glitches have not been fixed yet.

Your waypoint edits will stay like you change them too.

You cannot. The software writers do that.
