I think you missed the robot part of the vacuum gift. The robot vacuums the house while you are away, so it's one less chore to do. With our hardwoods and dog shedding, we (mostly her since she gets home first) have to vacuum or swiffer every single day when we get home. My wife has strongly hinted that's what she wants for Christmas. I'll get her some other things as well.

I got one for the wife last year. Rhoomba 650 and we use it just about every day. our house is mostly hardwoods and it does a pretty good job getting about 90% of the dog hair and dirt and such. she loves it.

A dust pan, last year I got her a broom. It hurt me all year to see her sweeping stuff into her hand.
