    Set up question.

Well I decided to keep my old Mercury 200, had it out today after finally getting the thing to run right. I ran 67-68 mph at 6000rpm. I have maybe a foot to foot and a half tall rooster tail at wot and very stiff steering. My hole shot is about 6-7 seconds at 3200 rpm with zero blow out. I’m assuming my jack plate needs to go up? And I’m running a 24 fury 3 blade

If the steering is stiff and it is not stiff on the trailer, then you still need to lower it.

The steering is only really stiff from about 62 mph and up. From 0-60 it’s not bad at all

My prop to pad is at 4” should I drop it 1/4”? 4” seems pretty low

You can easily turn a 25 at least in this cool weather based on RPM. Basscat knows the hull, stiff steering WOT, you go down. It depend on how high you want run the RPM, not sure your particular recommended limit is, mines 5800, and getting ready to try a 26 Trophy on my 96 Classic.

    I ran to 6000rpm. I may try to find a 25P prop

Ok so I ran the boat again this weekend, raised the motor to 3.5” and top speed improved by about 1.5 mph but the holeshot is still terrible. About 8 seconds at 3000rpm. I don’t think I’m very heavy, I’m 180 pounds, 12-14 combos, 8 3700 boxes and 5 small Rubbermaid boxes with plastics. Is there anything I can do to improve holeshot?

Have you removed the plugs from the Fury? If so, you can also drill extra holes.

Furys typically run with ALL holes open.

Ok I checked my prop and all the holes are open, it’s my spare prop that has 2 holes plugged so any more ideas on how to improve holeshot?
