    Hot water discharge lakes

Are there any hot discharge lakes similar to Newton and Coffeen in Illinois. I fish Newton all year thought a change of pace was due. Any thoughts other than way south? Thanks

Once upon a time, turtle creek was really good. But while you can catch some bass, it isn't a great bass lake right now. Better catfish lake.

I’ve fished turtle creek in the winter.
When did they start closing it?

I called last winter said closed till march 10th i believe. I just called and got a answering machine so I left a message inquiring . I will post my findings. Are there any other hot water lakes in the whole state? PS if the wind is over 10 mph the lake is closed due to a double drowning I think year before last

There was a small lake in Gibson County, but I don’t think it ever amounted to much.

True......the attendant over the summer said that is why they close it. Goose season ends mid February....I wish they would open it then!!

Yes Turtle Creel is closed to fishing now reopening Monday February 12th. Reminder that while you can use any size motor on Turtle Creek any motor larger than 10 HP is restricted to idle speed only. Yes if the wind is 20+ mph they do close the lake to fishing.
Yes 3000 acre cooling lake at Gibson Generation Station in Gibson County but has been closed to fishing for the last several years.

I wish they would build a ramp to the white river in a safe area that allows access to the discharge at IPL.

Never fished Egypt always felt if I stayed in Il. I would just fish Newton. Was looking for something out of state.

newton is good but with the HP restrictions that makes Egypt easier for me. I have a buddy that only fishes for crappie and he does very well on Egypt.
