    Question Mercmonitor Vs Vesselview Link

Read a post that said Mercmonitor threw a tstat fault when crap had stuck tstat open (6 beeps @ idle). Will the vesselview link do the same? Thanks for any info. Am I correct in thinking I'll need the mercmonitor in addition too the vesselview?

    Mercmonitor is a Gauge
Vessel view link is a device that will only display information on a graph, there is no gauge to be installed.

You do not need both. It is an either/or choice. I prefer the Mercmonitor to keep my Lowrance units from being too cluttered with data. There are several different versions of the Mercmonitor, Level 0, Level 1 etc. The Level 1 is the most popular and has NMEA2000 capability so you can transmit data to your Lowrance for the engine data page and individual data overlays.

The Level 1 MM, will display everything the VVL will both on the gauge itself and on your Lowrance and a WHOLE lot more. The main difference is that the VVL must display info on your phone/tablet. The VVL is cheaper but it seems several guys are disappointed in it. Not so with the MM.

The VVL WILL display on your Lowrance units thru the NMEA network.

You are right, I was thinking vessel view mobile. Thanks for the correction!

That also makes the costs about the same.

I vote for the MM.....i was in the same position about all that....i have Lowrance units but decided to go with the MM and still be able to connect it to my NMEA network and have some of the info displayed on the unit but the main reason for chosing the MM is it wil always be on the boat and if i ever decided to change brands of electronics and not have to worry.......
