    Willie Taggart to Fla State!

I’m shocked Fla State fans would accept this. He was at Oregon less than a year.

1 of my best friends is very high up in the athletic dept administration at the Univ of Ark. When we hired Bielema several years back he told me that they were very impressed with Taggart. He said he would've been too risky of a hire because he simply didn't have enough head coaching experience at the time (I think he had only been the head coach at West Kentucky for 1 or 2 years at the time) but he said that he was the real deal and they all really liked him.

We know him well ... he’s a Florida native. There’s no mystery here.
Brought University of South Florida from the pit of misery to “Dilly Dilly” in a short few years.
He only left Oregon to take his dream job. He’s a lifetime Seminoles fan.
Had he thought that the FSU position would open up, he wouldn’t have moved to Oregon.
FYI, the kids love playing for him, he’s a #1 good guy.
You’ll see the program solidify under his leadership and he will acquire top recruits.

Not enough data to draw that conclusion, took a 4-8 team to 7-5, but with one year it's hard to say if it's a fluke or if he has the team turned around. Oregon was in really rough shape, not only losing but getting blown out by teams there were far from powerhouses. The guy has won at every stop, but so have a lot of guys that ended up fired at big time programs. I think it will be a good hire, and both of us have a 50/50 chance of being right and no one will remember if we are wrong or not.

That's yesterday's news. We're pretty excited about him. He was able to draw a bunch of talent from Florida to Oregon. He's out on recruiting trail right now. Even crusty old Bobby is high on him. Yep it is his dream job.

Nothing against the guy (or FSU), but he's a gap coach (between a NC coach and the next NC coach) and checks a box for FSU's leadership team. It was openly talked about around here this was a move they wanted to make right now. He can be the biggest FSU fan of all time and greatest coach in the world to play for, but that doesn't translate to championhips.

The day he accepted the FSU job he had been at three schools as head coach in the last 365 days. Kind of a funny stat. He's made it clear for a long time that FSU was his dream job and he wanted to be back in FL. Good guy and pretty good coach that can recruit well. He should do pretty well at FSU. I think it may take him a few years to get his footing, then watch out. Wish him the best there.

Looks like Florida State's fixing to go through the ups and downs Miami fans had for years till they hired Mark Richt

You guys in NC/SC aren't going to be quite so happy for very long.
Coach Taggart is a great recruiter and great motivator.
You'll soon see why Oregon picked him up and why he's back in Florida.
And he's modest, surrounding himself with good assistants.
Best of all, he absolutely demands that the players behave themselves.
Something we greatly need at Florida State.

You mean like the stellar Ken Hatfield/Tommy West years at Clemson?

Why aren't coaches held to the contracts they agree to sign? Pro players are, but coaches can run whenever they want.
