Do you like your T-H Marine Evinrude G2 Motor Support? If not, why and what do you use instead?

I don’t have a G2 (yet), but my Evinrude dealer says the TH Marine for G2 is the only way to go. The built-in trailering bracket works for many people, but it does not hold the steering, and with no exposed steering arms, there’s nowhere to put steering clips. The TH Marine saver protects the transom and trim while holding the motor from swinging side to side. Does it all, in other words. Just be careful not to pinch your fingers when placing it.

Nice answer, thanks. I'll get one. My Ranger/G2 boat is coming soon.

I use the built in and it works just fine. My motor has never turned while towing.

If you use the built in one and turn the engine all the way, does the engine still turn side to side ?

I’ll go out on a limb here and guess probably not, especially with the power steering model, unless you make a really sharp and sudden turn. Might not be the best thing for the engine steering components to be subjected to years of sudden jolts from potholes, etc., but again, I’m just guessing at that. Your grandad’s cable steering definitely could be damaged by an unsecured motor, but very different mechanics in play there.

If a G2 has the upgraded power steering, does the motor not "lock in place" similar to a vehicle when turned off...?

Or will the motor still sway side to side during towing?

No it does not lock in place, it will turn to one side or other. Personally I really like the T&H best.

This guy made the original support that Evinrude now sells. He still sells them on ebay. I’ve had one for over a year and it works great. 90 bucks.
