I use a one gallon zip loc bag duct taped to the lower unit. After draining zip it shut and recycle. No mess.

I use a 48 inch plastic Wal-Mart kiddie swimming pool. On lower units, I want to look at the fluids for water intrusion and metal shards.

Then I empty my crankcase on top of the l/u grease.

All great ideas to make a potentially messy job more manageable.

You better hope a cop doesn't see you doing that. That storm sewer will end up straight into Lake Michigan that you fish. Would you just drain it into the lake? Because that is what you are doing in a round about way. I hope you were just joking.

We don't ever want to hear you complain about your water up there.

    LOL

I recycle my oil at an Oreilly's that is less than a mile from my house.

However, I still have almost 8 gallons of old fuel I drained from this boat when I bought it in September.

That recycling facility is only 10 miles away, I just keep forgetting to take it and neither my dogs or my storage building have complained yet.

I took my old gas and put in about 1/2 gallon of it every fill up. Now this was an 1985 so the newer cars might be more sensitive to different fuels.

    Yes, sir!

I would have no problems doing this in small amounts in some previously owned cars, but nothing fuel injected.

Plus this boat was owned by an elderly widow, there is no telling how old the gas was!

I bought it on consignment and had no contact with her, so I couldn't ask any direct questions.

I dump mine in a coffee can and pour it along the house foundation to kill grass.
