Helix 10 MEGA SI for ice fishing

While the Helix 5 and 7 packages are nice. I wanted to experiment with my Helix 10 G2 for ice fishing. Reading about the new Ice Ducer XI 9 1521 it further my want to try this. Anyway contacted Humminbird Customer Service via email at first. By email the agent informed me my unit is not compatible with any of the ice ducers. So called by phone said no the XI 9 1521 but yes to Xi-9 -20. When pressed as to reason why they informed me it is a software thing.Which is CS speak we don't really know.

Ninety percent of the time CS advice is right on. But I know from experience that the ice fishing knowledge there is weak at best. Alabama= no ice fishing. So that part is understandable. Some of the agents are also really weak on Legacy units and transducers.

Know this is a long shot but does anyone have a Helix 9 G2 or up hooked to the XI-9 1521. Can't believe they have designed different internal circuitry for the Helix G2 5 & 7 models as far as transducer goes then designed for the 9 , 10 and 12.

Keep in mind the 10 mega SI draws 2.7 Amps. That is about 2 Amps more than the 5 or 7. May not be practical for battery size unless you are able to haul it around with you. Bob
    Note: may be a frequency thing. XI 9 19 | Ice Ducers | 710215-1

    Single/Dual Beam. 9/19 Degree. 455/240kHz. 8' Cable
Also found this under the ice ducers

Bob, XI-9-19 is for the flasher units, XI-9-20 are for the MFD led/lcd units. The XI9-1521 is a CHIRP transducer designed for the Helix 5 and 7 G2 units. They have incorporated this transducer with the ICE Helix 5 and ICE Helix 7 packages. It is also available by itself.

Any other transducer in the Helix Line will fit 5,7,9,or 10. In some cases there may be a better choice but they will all work.

Power is least of my worry.

Have not seen those listed but the description sounds very similar to the normal 200khz in angle and freq. Not the super narrow 9 degrees on the old ice ducers. Been years since I drilled holes to fish through, must have lost touch. I guess just get them and see what they do. Good luck.

Using CHIRP you can adjust the frequency that also adjusts the coverage from 15 degrees at 240 kHz to 21 degrees for 140 kHz.

Well it seems if the new transducer the XI-9 1521 is not to be had. Can't find one in stock anywhere. Every site lists it as back ordered , not in stock etc etc etc.

Was going to buy one as I have sneaking idea it will work .

Very rarely order parts from Humminbird site. Too many deals on the net when available.
