    navionics is a good reference but use the clearly marked boat channels. Even if you see locals running an unmarked area don’t try it your self. I run creeks I have fished for years and 5’ off will cost you a lower unit.

    I use to have a lot of nightmares in the spring when I lived on Toledo Bend.
    Dreamed that I was in a champion fishing surrounded by a bunch of East Texans in skeeter bass boats.
    Those were scary nightmares.

    All seriously just watch it. If water is toward pool stage 172 then still watch it but you can run the main boat lanes.
    Those smaller lanes unless you know them run slow or idle.
    In 2000 I tore up a 18ft champion and it cost $6,000 to fix.

    Remeber you can pretty much launch near most coves.
    Especially in the spring just launch near the cove.
    If you run to another cove crossing the main lake and the wind kicks up you might be spending the night in that cove.

    I seen some naked people on party barges partying by the sand islands areas in the South during the late spring and summer. That just not right man, Don’t look!
