    Something else to worry about

Everyone who has a keel protector on their boat should check them to make sure they're not separating from the hull. Over the weekend I decided to replace mine because it was separating, in two places. Where it separated, water had entered and was trapped between the protector and the hull, which caused blisters to form where the water was trapped. I had no idea water was pooled in the two places. I spent most of the weekend repairing the blisters.

I just noticed another post was just posted on this subject

That's exactly what happened to mine. What did you do to repair the blisters?

That's why keelshield tells you to run a bead of 5200 or 4200 around the edges of the protector once it's glued on. Sand the blisters off and get some either gelcoat to mix with cabisal or get some marine tex put that stuff on and sand it off smooth and put your new shield over it.

I used a counter sink bit and drilled out the blisters and used West Epoxy with a barrier coat mixed with it.
