I've got a 2006 294 and want to put a recessed trolling motor foot pedal tray in while i'm changing carpet....any issues cutting the hole with the front of the tray starting a few inches off the forward most part of the deck???

I don't know the paticulars of how your boat is constructed..I would find any means possible to get a camera up in there and get a good look at how it's built..
I have an 18' 283 Vindicator bassboat and have installed a recessed foot pedal tray. Had to cut a portion of the upper part of the front storage compartment. That cutting didn't really effect the storage area. Main thing I see to check out is the support of weight on the front deck. Installing the tray is not to complicated. I mean if I could install this tray anyone can.
Just can't leave well enough alone!!

I added one to my 95 201 with no issues. One of the best things I've done to the boat. Easy once your past that first cut.

I dont know how the 294 deck is layed out but on my 2004 295 pro xl i ran into a small issue because under the deck there was a piece of fiberglass that hangs down about 4 inches, i had to use a longer blade so i can cut this piece off. Other than that it was really easy. I used my phone to see whats underneath the deck before i started cutting.

No issues, nothing but foam. You can pull the front FF unit off and validate you don't have any wiring etc in the way to be safe.

I did a older 201 pro last year . Had to cut in the front box . Looked like the 294 above . The lip in the pic was my front box , no big deal . I just cut the lip off and after installing the pan . I use some 3M 5200 and install it to front of the box to seal it .
Looks great. Only suggestion i would make is to use black paint and cover over the exposed wood around the openings to prevent rot in the future.
