    Tempest vs Razor same pitch

I have been searching for some info on a comparison between a Tempest and a Razor in the same pitch but I haven't really found any results searching the forums. I currently run a 25p Tempest A45 but curiosity is always abounding about something else.

I have a 26 Tempest Plus that is brand new and it really doesn't run any differently than my Tempest 25 a45.
Thinking about playing around some with props and the razor came to mind because I have a family member that runs one but different boat, different motor, and different pitch so not a great comparison for me.

Send that 26 tempest to Mark and have him fix it. New even number tempests need some help. Razor of the same pitch will be stiffer than a tempest.

I have heard that the razor is stiff but I haven’t heard anything regarding performance. Like lift, slip %, speed, and so on. Does it compare to a tempest at all?

Its all just curiosity for me. Might have a little boat spending money after Christmas and just thinking you know.

The Razor-3 is better out of the box than a new Tempest. It lifts more, slips less, and goes faster. Once you work a Tempest, it is faster. It will lift differently though. The Razor-3 has a lot of bow-lift. The Tempest will give you more stern-lift.

How many rpm's can you turn with the 25" prop fully loaded ready to fish now? That 205 is heavy and a 25 may be all it will turn.

Your motor only turns 5800 so a 25" prop is probably all it's going to turn. You can talk to Mark and he'll tell you what Razor to order and he'll exchange it if it doesn't work or try to work it for you.

You think b an b would do anything with my current prop?

And wonder what my boat weight is? I have looked on internet but info on these old discontinued boats is hard to find.

I wouldn't B&B that prop. The A 45 is thin to start with and you'll be taking a chance of cracking the blades with the heavy load you've got. Weight is around 2000 lbs on that model.

Thanks man for the info. My 26 pitch runs identical to the A45 I really can’t tell a difference between the two. May send the 26 for a prop job this winter and just see what happens. I will leave the A45 alone

I went through 5 different tempest 25 props. Three were worked ( 2 by mark) and the other 2 were box stock... the croxton 25s were the fastest and best running, but it wasn’t until I got my hands on a croxton tempest 26 before I got to see what I have been missIng. The croxton 26 gained 4-5 mph over the croxton 25.

i have seen 74.2 with the croxton 26. I had trouble breaking 70-71 with the 25.

stock 26’s are junk. They need to be b&b at minimum.
