Ultrex on a basscat

Anyone know if an ultrex(short shaft) can fit on a puma ftd without it blocking the rod locker lid? I've seen some people say it will fit and some people say it won't.

The short shaft is classified a 45" shaft, but measures 48". You lose 3" with the depth collar control. Unless Basscat has changed the rod locker length since 05 (the year of my PUMA), when the short shaft is properly installed it will block the rod locker. If you don't want to deploy the motor to get into the rod locker, it has to be raised apx 6" (I use a rubber block under the mount arm when working with it in the shop). The 112 / 45 is the motor I have on my PUMA.

It will not impede your ability to get into the locker. The ultrex sits up high enough that the the head of the ultrex will lift up just enough to open the locker. No worries just get it and be happy

What about the 52 inch shaft?

Even with the 52" you can still get in the locker easily. The lid doesn't open all the way with the troller stowed but you can still get your rods in and out. If you fish big water the extra length is worth the little extra hassle.

I know you asked about a Puma, but on my 2018 Eyra with a 45" Ultrex, the trolling motor is waayyyyy clear of the rod locker. I'm guessing even a 52" would fit !!!

Yea everyone saying it's just the puma and cougar are the ones with the problem. Still don't have a clear answer on wether or not it will hit the trolling motor or not, still don't have a clear answer

Don't know what was changed from 05 to now, below are pictures of my 05 with a Ultrex 112/45. One of the pictures is with the trolling motor all the way down, even though no one runs one this way (at least around here in the shallow water), the other is with the trolling motor raised where I normally run it. The trolling motor is properly mounted with little overhand on the front.

So is the rod box lid and/or boat different now on a current model Puma than it was on a 2005 model Puma? It seems that the lid will fully open on a current model but wont on a 2005 model..where is the difference here?
