    Alarm sounding

    I have a 1994 mercury xri 150 hp model.
The alarm keeps beeping. Not a constant single sound but a beep beep beep

Low oil level in tank under cowl or water in fuel.

No water separation in fuel. Dumped contents of fuel filter in container. Oil is plenty full in remote and motor oil tank

Plenty full is not full enough, it should be 100% full. Do a search on here for the proper way to recap it, the tank under the cowl that is.

The remote tank (boat mounted) should not be more than 80% full while the reserve tank (engine mounted) should be 100% full with no air present at all. Process is covered by this topic in the FAQ at the top of this forum.

The first thing to do is premix your gas with oil until you fix problem or decide to remove oil pump and go premix all the time. If oil tank on motor is low that will cause alarm. Which could be a problem with oil line check valve, or air/pressure leak in the system. The next problem could be the oil pump diaphragm or the oil pump crank gear. All the problems except gear can be easily fixed. If it's the gear I would recommend switching to premix.

    Is the alarm:

    -4 beeps, PAUSE, 4 beeps

    (or)

-Very fast beeping (that does not stop)?

Please also see the Forum Announcements, and be sure to provide the REQUIRED info. Thanks!

    FDonz,

Before you start the engine, turning the key to first position, do you hear the regular 4 beeps showing alarm working?

My 1995 150 xri started a constant alarm when engine running. With engine not running, when I turned the key to first position it would give the constant beep like when it was when running. If yours does the same let me know and I will find the thread with instructions that helped me troubleshoot. I ended up having to change the alarm module. Working great now.

Unplug the wire from the FUEL filter and see if the warning continues.

That should rule out a water-in fuel signal.

Based on your descriptions, you have an oil pump rotational warning occurring- which can be due to many things (including, but not necessarily limited to):

    -Faulty magnet/bearing
    -Faulty Sensor
-Loss of Spark on one or more cylinders
-Poor grounds for oil module or sensors
    -Faulty Warning Module
    -Failed drive gear

Due to the CRITICAL nature of the oil injection system, if would be wise to enlist the "hands-on" expertise of a well-qualified technician.
