Guys, was in need of some recommendations as far as Baitcasters. Currently I’m using Quantum EXO. They are “ok”. I tend to get a ton of backlash/tightening of the spools on its own. Not sure why. Could be after tension from catching a fish not really sure. Needed something in the $120.00-150.00 range that would be a good fit. I’ve always used Quantum. It maybe it’s time to step away. Any recommendations are appreciated guys. Thanks.

I use a lot of Quantum PTs myself and I keep looking at different baitcasters but these haven't let me down yet. Honestly thinking about the Lews LFS, Daiwa Tatula CT, Pro Qulifier 2 or one of the new Abu Garcia reels. But I guess I shouldn't leave Quantum out of the mix since these haven't given me any problems.

If I wanted to switch reels for that price range I’d go with diawa tatula ct or lews.
Curado K and Daiwa Tatula SV, best reels in that price range by far. Hit up the Tackle Trap they can’t get both well within your price range.

I've been fishing the Quantum S3 reels since May-full featured, larger spool and a vastly improved ACS system that makes for long, minimal effort casting. Couple that with an unconditional three year warranty, priced at $169. If you like the previous version of the Smoke or EXO line you'll love the S3's. You can step up to the Tour S3 with jeweled spool caps and graphite handle at $199. I can't imagine a better performing reel in that price range and I've fished nearly everyone of the reels mentioned above. Stay Quantum!
Is the Tatula CT a little better than the SV?

They both share the same frame and internals, the difference between the two is in the spool design. The SV excels as casting lighter lures and skipping, although it is limited at casting distance due to spool size. I've had both and my preference is the SV, I also like the CT type R

A Tatula SV spool holds about 100 yds of #14 Sunline Sniper and a Tatula CT spool holds about 160 yds. I have a bunch of SVs and a bunch of CTs. I use the CTs for bombing stuff (frogs, chatterbaits, crankbaits) and the SVs for everything else. If you like to skip lures, the SV spool is pretty sweet.

Another vote for the Daiwa Tatula SV TW, awesome reels and you can get a great deal on them.
Before you condemn your Quantums, have they ever been professionally cleaned and lubed ? It makes all the difference in the world.

These guys summed it up, Daiwa Tatula is what-you want. Until last year I was using BP PQ & Lews. Switched all reels to Daiwa & never looked back!!
