Gas smell on 2007 Stratos 294 xl.

The Stratos I recently bought, while sitting in the shop for a few days with all the lids shut, smell gas fumes when you open any of the lids on the deck & the back compartment lids. Not sure if this is normal or might have a small gas leak somewhere. Anyone else have this issue with a Stratos this fairly age?

My garage generally smells like gas too even though there are no leaks in the boat. Normal to me.

Thanks for the reply!! 1st boat that I have owned that does that. How do you access the gas tank on these boats? Assume it runs under the seats.

Pull the port and starboard rear storage tubs out and you might be able to access the top of the tank. It is likely an “L” shaped tank running under the seats with the high side just under the deck forward of the livewell boxes.

Thanks!! I was wondering about that. Just going to check the seals on the tank.

Always leave the rear deck open. All plastic tanks will smell

Will do. I took out the tubs and didn't see a leak anywhere. Probably permitting through the plastic, like you said. Thanks for the reply!!

It's probably coming from the tank vent. I have the same boat, and I can occasionally smell it from there.
