    Triton TR21x rod tubes

I have noticed several of my rods are kinda in a bind going into the rod tubes. It's like the tubes are not on the same angle as the end that holds the rod handles. Has anybody noticed this? I thought of maybe making a wedge for the end of the rod storage rack or the tubes. I know some guys just remove the tubes all together. Thanks

I took mine out of my 21TRX and utilize rod socks. I think this is a better solution IMO.

Best thing I did in the TRX21 side rod locker was to take those tubes out, saved weight up front and with the rod socks it holds more rods easier.

I actually already have the tubes out. I'll just have to remount the light somewhere. Guess I'm gonna roll with it.

I still have my tubes in and have been battling R&R'ing the rods. I'm using socks and the tubes. My friend recommended just removing the racks and stacking the rods. Any comments on that approach.

you will need reel covers if you take out the handle rack

Agreed. I think the best approach is to get rid of the tubes and fabricate a new handle rack that can holster 18-20 bait casters in the port side locker and still utilize rod socks to keep the tips from tangling. This keeps the reels from beating themselves to death in rough water, keeps the reels from nicking your line and keeps treble hooks from hanging up in the rod socks. I carry my spinning rods in the starboard side locker and usually travel with 8. The center box carries the bulk of the tackle and no rods. Heavy stuff goes in the rear boxes where it belongs IMO.

With tubes in, and socks on, I can still get 16 or 17 rods in one box

Yea, but the tubes are brutal on guides when you slide the rods in and out. I hope you know a good rod repair shop, you will need it. The tubes are to restrictive.
