Just out of curiosity, what kind of records do Yamaha hold in the racing world? Are they dominatating that aspect too? Or are they just pushing a heavy bassboat somewhat known for a slow holeshot to good top end speeds? I know the Strokers are known for being easier to drive at high speed (see xskeet),but just how are they performing overall in the all out racing deal?

Yamaha is a engine company and build some of the best engines in the world, They hold multiple records in ATV,snowmobile,motocross etc.., Mercury build race spec engines, Yamaha build recreational outboard engines. Kinda not comparing apples to apples.

Once guys start figuring out these 4 stroke engines there will be no more comparing a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke. 4 stroke will dominate. It's already happened to the snowmobile world.

I dont know what they changed or any details, just that Chris said on fb that they were running about 30hp less for this test. With the tunability of the ecu and whatever else HT has done it wouldnt be hard to change power output though. Why? no idea, but im sure there is a reason, and with the extensive testing and R&D Im looking forward to seeing what HT offers for phase kits for the SHO!

I’m sure it’s just a change in peak hp. If it was making 450hp (for example this is by no means a reflection of actual power) at 4500rpm but drops off to 300 at 6400rpm yet the new tune makes 420hp peak but still has 375hp at 6400rpm that would be a huge benefit on the water. Useable hp is better than maximum hp.
