    The Turkey Whisperer

I don’t hunt, but thought this was hilarious!

Amazing how wild turkeys react when near a homestead, barns and houses, where people are normally seen and heard. Yet, in the field are as wiley as a fox. My ex's folks own a large spread in NW Oklahoma chock full of wild turkeys. It was here where some of the first turkeys were trapped for distribution throughout the state to re-establish Oklahoma's wild turkey population. You could walk amongst them all the time near the houses and barns. They roosted on top of the barn, truck headache racks, windmills. Once in the field, however they were wild as can be.

I have hunted wild turkey in several states and never ran across anything like that. Makes me feel dumb for paying all that money for camo, face cover, camo shotgun and several calls and getting up before the sun to hide in just the right place. That could have turned bad for that guy in a hurry.

I'm not sure those are "wild turkeys". Funny nonetheless.

I have called some up in the neighborhood that are wild and chased my truck with me gobbling at them. Different season.

Those may not be, but I have seen wild turkeys act very similar that roost and stay near a homestead.

At the start of that video he has his gun barrel pointing up at his face.

With his hand covering the end of the barrel. I had a handful of young jakes come up to me on my daily walk one morning. I had a hard time getting them to leave.

No doubt those are wild birds. Turkeys are some of the most stupid birds around.

That is the first thing that caught my eye. My old hunter safety instructor used to use his size 12's to engrain the "point the muzzle in a safe direction" so much I notice those things right away.
