Any 12V power source that has at least a 2A capacity.

Some use a battery and some use a 110V A/C to 12V DC converter. I use the converters, this is one of them:

An old laptop power supply works well if it has enough 12v output for the unit. I have one that is 8 amps. Works well. Bob
As a matter of fact I used to use an old laptop ac adapter(90Watts/19volts) 20vdc and less is ok for helix. I now bought an ac to dc converter(12volts/8 amps)

I use a 12v motorcycle battery with either a PC10 or PC11 power cable and alligator clips. Works fine.
