    Motorguide energy 76

Hi I have a energy 76 trolling motor that will only run on hi bypass. The trolling runs fine out of the water or no resistance on the motor. I can hold the prop shaft and it will stop in regular mode, but spinning free it works like it should. I switch it to bypass and it works. Is this fixable?

That's going to depend on where the problem actually is. If it's what I suspect, it's fixable but at a price. If the lower unit runs fine on High Bypass, that tells me the lower unit is probably OK, which would bring the problem back to the board or the switches. I suspect the board, (which is no longer available and have to be converted to digital) but would need it in my shop to run test and see.

How much to convert to digital if it's the board? Any idea of shipping cost to send it? Would I be better to just upgrade to something new? Thank you for the help.

I personally think you would be better upgrading due to size of this motor. Conversion is usually round $500.00 -- giving you 1yr warranty of parts and labor to convert. Shipping would probably be between $50 and $60.00 each way. If I can help, give me a call.
