Line the hook up next to the tube to determine the exact spot the hook eye will enter the tube head.

Poke the hook eye through and run it down and out the bottom.

Hang the weight on the Z bend of the hook as shown. Slowly pull the hook in the direction shown. The weight will be pulled up inside of the tube.

I have not used this mold or hook yet... But I will be putting this together over the winter. The mold will probably need some tweaking to fit these hooks.

I use ACT's heads as well. Work really well. I use the finesse heads more, because I fish a lot of 3.5" bps tender tubes.

This mold works awesome... But my VMC 7329 3/0 hooks are too big for the tube... I'm ordering some 1/0 and 2/0 today. I wish there was a standard in hook sizes.

I prefer the hook eye more forward to catch less weeds. I also wanted more lead towards the bottom to help keel the bait tracking true. I used 28*-30* leg hooks instead of 60* that most others use.

This thread got me interested in trying the stupid tube so I included some in a TW black Friday buy. I got a couple of packs of Secret Lures and, since I wanted a little heavier jig, I got a pack of ⅜ Oz 3/0 V&M Smallie Tube jigheads. The Secret Lures in the lighter sizes work just as I expected with both 3 ½" SK Coffee tubes and V&M . However, I couldn't make the ⅜ oz. flip over without tearing up the tube to save my life.

Anybody else experience this? Is the ⅜ oz head just too big for this technique?
    Don't worry Ma'am....

Anyone using these for smallies as an alternative to a traditional exposed jig?

We have a lot of weeds here in Michigan and open hook tubes are a pain... For the great lakes, Open is fine most times. River fishing the stupid tube is awesome.

Turning the head inside the tube is much harder on teardrop shape heads, Round head with lube is easy.
