Braid all day. A tiny leader if you are fishing walking baits.

12# Big Game for small topwaters and 15# for big topwaters like spooks and maybe 20# for baits like Whopper Ploppers.

You really can't complain...well you can but...... I use either Stren or Trilene for monofilament line. It's dirt cheap and I usually only keep mono on my reels a month at a time anyways.

Tried big game, trilene XT, XL, Stren, none have been worth the money the labels cost to print. Only mono I've had that didn't disappoint is the Sunline SuperNatural. But I still use braid most of the time.

Big Game is hard to beat. You can pay a lot more for something else, but BG gets the job done.

I used BG several years ago for a couple seasons and was very disappointed. My main gripe was that BG had so much stretch that I could not always get a solid hookset. Many, many times I set the hook and the fish would come off before I got it in the boat. I did some stretch tests comparing BG to other lines and BG had more stretch than most others. No one has a 100% rate of landing fish. But, with BG my rate of lost fish was far too high. Since switching to Izorline a number of years ago, I very rarely lose a fish once I set the hook. And, Izorline is comparably priced with BG.

I have not purchased mono line for several years.Only reason I haven't is because I have so much of it,lol.I don't know about the new stuff but I aways liked to use a larger diameter (less stretch) mono line. But this did make it more difficult to fish smaller topwater like the pop "r". Try to find a mono with less stretch if such an animal is manufactured.Good luck and good fishing
